The Planter, when placed centered and below a 3x3 set of blocks will plant seeds and saplings in its inventory to the soil above when supplied with either MJ, EU, or RF. It is necessary to use the appropriate soil for the kind of seed or sapling you are using (e.g. Netherwarts requires soul sand). Unlike other MineFactory Reloaded machines, this machine is paired with a Harvester in order to harvest the fully grown plant/tree. It takes 15 MJ/37.5 EU to plant one item, and there's 2000 MJ of internal storage.
If used in conjunction with a Fertilizer the growth of the plant/tree is greatly increased (as if Bone Meal were directly applied to the growing plant/tree) otherwise, it will take the standard amount of time to grow crops/trees.
The planter will try to lay out crops according to the layout of its 3x3 inventory, with the top middle slot being north. This becomes more viable and useful with range upgrades.
Range upgrades are in addition to the starting size. For example, a +1 range upgrade will plant in a 5x5 area.
Planters have a 3x3 filter. when a sapling/seed is placed in that filter, it is not consumed, but a ghost image appears. That section of the area (which is shown where on the top of the planter) is designated to that sapling/seed. However, if not all sections of the filter are filled, any seed/sapling will go into that empty section. This is important to note when starting a farm with this device.
Note: when a redstone signal is applied, the planter clock will stop working.

Bug[edit]
It seems that having two planters stacked will make them plant seeds and saplings completely randomly. Thus, MineFactory Reloaded based farms should be at the same level and not one on top of the other.
They also do not seem to like Silverwood Saplings. They will plant them if you put in one at a time, but will start ejecting multiples out into the world if it runs out of valid planting space.
