The Hovering Hourglass is a block added by the Botania mod. It can be filled with types of sand to act as a redstone timer. Each block of Sand extends the time between pulses by 1 second, each block of Red Sand extends it by 10 seconds, and each block of Soul Sand extends it by 60 seconds. The hourglass can hold up to a stack, and sand types cannot be mixed. Right-clicking with anything else will remove all sand.
Right-clicking the hourglass with a Wand of the Forest will lock it so that sand cannot be removed. Hitting the hourglass with a Mana burst will pause and unpause the timer.
