The Cocoon of Caprice is a block added by the Botania mod. It spawns a mob after it is placed down. The time it takes seems about 2 mins.
Right-clicking the Cocoon with a chorus fruit will increase the chance of it turning into a shulker by 5%. It can also be fed emeralds to create villagers. It can also be fed a gaia spirit once. This seems to eliminate the common farm type animals from the spawn list. It can be water logged and will spawn fish it done so.
