Certus Quartz is a gem item added by Applied Energistics. It is dropped when mining or processing Certus Quartz Ore at the rate of one to four, thid yield is affected by a tool's Fortune Enchantment. Certus Quartz is often interchangeable with Vanilla Nether Quartz in the recipes for basic tools, such as the Quartz Cutting Knife or Quartz Pickaxe. However some advanced machinery recipes do not allow substitution and even may specifically require both types, as with the Conversion Matrix. Certus Quartz is sometimes found in Mineshaft Dungeon Chests (1.1% chance). There is a way to create Certus Quartz using DartCraft. First, simply take an Upgrade Core and infuse it with the freezing upgrade; then put it in a Force Furnace. Then finally, put Nether Quartz inside of the Force Furnace; the Force Furnace will then smelt the Nether Quartz into Certus Quartz.
