The ME Chest is the easiest way to use a ME Storage Cell. It provides direct access to the contents of the Storage Cell placed into the ME Chest. The ME Chest requires a small amount of power to run on its own, or it can be plugged into a ME Network so it can get power directly from an ME Controller. If connected to an actual ME Network, ME Chest's contents will appear in the ME Access Terminal, too. A better way of storing cells for a ME Network is using ME Drive, which can store up to 10 different cells.

If Advanced Drive Rendering is enabled in the config, the top light will indicate different states of the ME Chest:

  • Red - storage is full
  • Green - there is room for item types and storage has free space
  • Orange - there is no room for item types but storage space still available for the item types stored on the Cell
  • The light is off if ME Chest has no power

The ME Chest consumes 1 AE/t (aka 0.5 EU/t (IndustrialCraft 2) or 0.2 MJ/t (BuildCraft) or 2 RF/t (Thermal Expansion 3) or 20 Joules/t (Basic Components) ), and consumes a small amount based on which storage cell is installed. If powered on its own it has a very small internal storage which only lasts a few moments, using a Energy Cell or using a battery from another mod is suggested for reliable operation.
