Stackable Yes (64)

The Resistance is an item added by the Magneticraft mod. It is used to limit the energy flow in Low Voltage Electricity. The Resistance has three adjustable resistance bands and a yellow tolerance band on one end, similar to a real world Resistor. When placing Resistance, the yellow band will face away from the player. It can be placed in any of 4 orientations and can be rotated with a Wrench but can not be placed pointing up or down. The 2 ends act the same, so orientation is mostly visual. The Resistance will only connect to Low Voltage Cable, a Battery or other machines that use Low Voltage and can not connect to Copper Wire or Medium or High Voltage.

Usage[edit]

GUI Resistance.png

The Resistance GUI is opened by left-clicking it with an empty hand and includes three adjustable bands.

  • Band A is the first significant digit (left side)
  • Band B is the second significant digit
  • Band C is the decimal multiplier
  • Band D is the non adjustable Tolerance band and is only used to indicate orientation. This would indicate +/- 5% Tolerance on a real Resistor.

The first significant digit is the 10s value (0Ω, 10Ω, 20Ω, 30Ω...90Ω) and the second significant digit is the 1s value (0Ω, 1Ω, 2Ω,3Ω...9Ω) and then the decimal multiplier increases the base value, or adds 0s on the end, so 1Ω, 10Ω, 100Ω, 1000Ω, etc. The Resistance is adjusted by clicking a band so it has a grey outline and then clicking a color below to change it's value.

Real world Resistors are not adjustable and have these bands set at fixed values, see the Wikipedia entry Electronic color code.
