The Inoculator is a block added by the Genetics mod.
It injects a filled Serum into a live bee to alter its genetic make-up. It is the final step in the advanced genetics machine set for transposing traits, and requires the products of the Isolator and Purifier to work properly. Serums are rated in varying qualities, using a less than Excellent serum carries a chance of introducing undesirable traits into the inoculated bees.
Recipe[edit]
Prior to 1.7.10[edit]
GUI[edit]
Each injection uses up one charge on the serum. Since each bee has active and inactive traits, it can take multiple doses to fully alter a bee since it must hit both the active and inactive genes. Two doses at minimum are needed per bee, but it often takes more. The Inoculator can hold up to six bees in the upper row of slots. Serums are loaded on the left slot, while the bee currently being worked on will be in the middle slot next to the ! icon. Fully altered bees drop down to the bottom row. It doesn't matter if the bee has been analyzed yet or not, the Inoculator won't put a bee in the bottom row unless it is purebred for the trait being injected.
Energy[edit]
This machine needs substantial amounts of energy in the form of RF to run efficiently. While it will run on as little as 10 RF/t, the Inoculator processes at maximum speed with 250 RF/t. At full power, it takes one minute, forty seconds per cycle. It will accept up to 5,000 RF/t and store any excess power in its internal buffer of 150k RF. It will consume some energy while idling and slowly lose stored power. Using a Gate is recommended to only deliver energy while the machine has work to do.
Usage[edit]
Inoculator has no known uses in crafting.
Known Bugs[edit]
- Using a Pneumatic Tube to pump in/ out of the Inoculator can cause a multiplayer server to crash.
- Shift-Clicking Serums out from the output while InvTweaks is active and the inventory is full might make the Serum vanish.
