The Greatwood Sapling/TC3 comes from the Greatwood Tree added by Thaumcraft 3. This sapling will grow into a Greatwood tree that is around 30 blocks tall. This sapling will grow only if the blocks south, west and South-East are clear. You only need 1 sapling despite the tree having a 2x2 thick trunk. Using Bone Meal on a Greatwood Sapling has no effect, but a Hoe of Growth can be used on it for instant growth.
