Tool Heads[edit]

After being challenged on reddit, I did a test where I made a hammer with a cobalt head, and either manyullyn or paper plates attached. It seems to be that the head determines the maximum mining speed, and this can be reduced by using lower quality plates (at least as far as the tool forge reports). Dalvoron (talk)

Check out the equations over at Tools (Tinkers' Construct). The head and plates all average together to determine the speed of a hammer. --timrem (talk) 08:36, 5 March 2014 (CET)
So should this article be changed where it says the Tool Head is the only thing that affects durability / speed? I mean visually the plates are part of the head, but the individual parts are called "Hammer Head", "Excavator Head" etc. which implies the plates are separate. I agree. The tool head implies only the head part, separate from the plates. If the plates are included, perhaps state "tool head and plates". If the tough tool binding is included, perhaps "everything except the handle". --Kahless61 (talk) 13:56, 11 March 2014 (CET)
Alright, rephrased it to be a bit clearer, and added some links to the Tools, and Weapons pages for more info. Dalvoron (talk) 07:03, 12 March 2014 (CET)
