Videos[edit]
Please keep videos at a size of 450, as indicated in our Style Guidelines. If you wish to view videos at a larger size, you can watch it on YouTube or in full-screen. Thanks! --timrem (talk) 07:10, 19 February 2013 (CET)
- I can see everything perfectly well with the video at 450. At 850, the video is larger than some people's monitors! Be kind to those who must put up with 800x600!--timrem (talk) 07:47, 19 February 2013 (CET)
Style Guide edits[edit]
Hey there! This is regarding your edits on the Style Guide. Please don't change the guide without prior discussion. Although you are right in that guidelines are guides and not a policy, the guidelines are supported by consensus and are widely accepted by contributors. That's why editors should generally attempt to follow those unless there's a good reason to make an exception. Because of that, guidelines should also always be discussed beforehand, because they're a representation of community consensus.
We have had an extensive discussion on the size of videos before. In the end we decided on 450px because this way the video does not overpower the actual content of the page. We are a wiki after all, and not a video hosting site. Our main focus is on convecing written information, not on collecting video tutorials. Having them on 450 also allows us to save space and have two videos in a row. And like Timrem said too, many people work on smaller monitors and it's good practice to support those. If the videos are too small for you, try watching them on youtube, or zoom in your browser temporarily.
If you disagree with this guideline, please use the Talk page or leave a message on the forums. You can list reasons why you think it's better to have large videos there and we'll be happy to consider them then.
