DW20 pack naming[edit]

Should we correctly disambiguate all versions of the Direwolf20 Pack as "Direwolf20 Pack (1.x)" instead of "Direwolf20 1.x Pack"? The naming scheme on the launcher changes all the time between versions (1.4="Direwolf20 Pack", 1.5="Direwolf20 1.5 Pack", 1.6="Direwolf20", 1.7="Direwolf20") and I'm against trying to match that mess. If we were to stick to launcher names (let's PLEASE not), we'd have to disambiguate the two newest packs anyway. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 21:31, 3 November 2014 (CET)

i am up for "Direwolf20 Pack (1.x)" -- OstPavel (talk • contributions) 21:54, 3 November 2014 (CET)
I feel like our current naming scheme is fine. It matches the 1.5 pack's official title, plus it's very clear about what version of the pack is being discussed wherever it appears. If we switch to parenthetical disambiguation, any references to any of the packs would just read "Direwolf20 Pack" and require piped links to the appropriate versions. For instance, the list of modpacks on NEI would include Direwolf20 Pack, Direwolf20 Pack, Direwolf20 Pack, and Direwolf20 Pack, if we stick to the standard convention of dropping the parenthesis from links. --timrem (talk) 22:05, 3 November 2014 (CET)
SMW doesn't strip disambig suffixes, does it? If it does, you have a point and I need to find out how to disable it. If we're going to keep the version number in the middle, can we at least move the 1.4 pack to have the version number in it? As I said we're far past matching launcher names by now, and people probably don't care as much about the 1.4 pack anymore that we'd need to keep the name. Then maybe redirect Direwolf20 Pack to the Direwolf20 disambig. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 22:10, 3 November 2014 (CET)
Not automatically, but by convention we remove the parenthetical portion from disambiguated titles in links. I'm fine with the 1.4 suggestion, I was actually surprised it wasn't at Direwolf20 1.4 Pack already. --timrem (talk) 23:06, 3 November 2014 (CET)
