Talk:Big Reactors

I can't seem to find the other item icons inside the jar file.. I wanted to put in the Reactor Casing and other links, but can't find them.... Anyone able to help me and let me know where they are ? Thanks.

I hope no one minds me doing some renovation on the Big Reactors page(s). I had a terrible time using the FTB Wiki to build my own Big Reactor stuff, so I decided to spruce up the page to be a little more helpful. The linked video even says that the coil business was confusing. --2601:6:6D00:A30:349A:A3C1:35E5:1607 23:28, 27 August 2014 (CEST)

Reactor Coolant Efficiency[edit]

This section is confusing. It says twice that these are fluid coolants. However, it lists gold and diamond. When I put molten gold in my reactor, I get an error message from right-clicking the reactor saying that's not a valid fluid. Liquid diamond doesn't even exist in this pack. (Agrarian Skies)

Putting a gold block in my reactor and then sealing it back up again gives no error message. Is that what is meant by those entries in the the table -- use solid blocks of diamond, iron, and gold, or liquid blocks of cryotheum? I assume enderium should be liquid too, though it does have blocks.
But is that chart even correct? According to the google doc here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1df7-8OqdOeWppfr1xZsV5eFqBWUeGGvtyQ6e1agJN2s/edit#gid=1439247654 The best coolant is cryotheum around the fuel rods, and 1 layer of resonant ender at the outside edge. So gold and diamond seem like they are probably not good coolants.

I believe the OP got his reactors mixed up; those numbers seem to be consistent with coils around turbine shafts powered by the steam from actively-cooled reactors, instead of the coolant in the original reactor itself.

I've updated the reactor coolant table for 0.4, with a link to the values in source code. I was not able to complete transposition of the values for the fantasy metals or the liquid coolants, but have appended them as a list.

Replacing a Video in the Big Reactors Section[edit]

Hello I would like to discuss replacing a video on the Big Reactors wiki page. I feel that the current video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sev05VJkgAY#t=2006 ) although very thorough in the explanation is simply too long of a video to be effective as a tutorial. At 40 min long viewers have to pick through the video to find exactly what they need. I suggest replacing the video linked above with this tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaqDi85UbdM I believe that a shorter more concise video will allow users who need a quick visual demonstration and explanation to better grasp the concepts and go back to playing the FTB mod as quickly as possible. Thoughts? --Grissm (talk) 22:38, 19 November 2014 (CET)

Hey! Thanks for actually asking before editing, this is very nice of you. I agree it's better to have a shorter video, and the mod was updated so the old video is quite obsolete. Let's see what others think, if you see no objections - go for it. -- OstPavel (talk • contributions) 23:38, 19 November 2014 (CET)

Haha I'll have to say i was banned for posting a third video. Luckily the admin that did it was kind enough to lead me in the right direction on how to properly apply for an edit. Thanks for the feedback tho! I'll wait and see what anyone else has to say on the matter. --Grissm (talk) 01:34, 20 November 2014 (CET)

Hello just checking in and saying that I will be editing the FTB Big Reactors wiki on Novermber 23, 2014 to remove the video and replace it with the one specified in the earlier post unless anyone makes any objections by that date. If you do object please discuss it here. Thank you. --Grissm (talk) 04:06, 21 November 2014 (CET)

Excel calculations error[edit]

At the end of "Construction" section there is a link to the excel document which allows to calculate the components and material costs. That spreadsheet contains an error in formula of calculating the count of Fuel Rods: Cell F5 has the formula "=(D5*B5-2)". But the correct formula should be "=D5*(B5-2)". That spreadsheet is password-protected, so please fix it and update the link.

Thanks.
