Amun-Ra is a Galacticraft addon that introduces an entirely new solar system, the binary-star system also called Amun-Ra, alongside player-built motherships, single-player shuttles, dimension-aware survival gear and several supporting machines, mobs and ores. It was authored by Pra for Minecraft 1.7.10 and depends on both Galacticraft Core and Galacticraft Planets (Mars).
The Amun-Ra system
The mod registers its own Solar System in the Galacticraft galaxy map under the name Amun-Ra. The system orbits the red star Ra and contains a second, blue stellar body called Amun; six planets and an asteroid belt circle the pair, each given an Egyptian theological name. Several of the bodies are full landable dimensions while the rest are decorative for now.
Planets and asteroid fields
- Osiris is an inner rocky planet that hosts a Mummy boss dungeon.
- Horus is a small landable rocky planet (Mehen-tier launcher required).
- Baal is the inner gas giant; it cannot be landed on but has a ring system and four moons.
- Mehen Belt is the asteroid belt between Baal and Sekhmet, accessed through Galacticraft's asteroid teleport type.
- Sekhmet is the outer gas giant with four moons.
- Anubis is a small rocky world far from the stars, with one moon.
Moons
Baal is orbited by:
- Rings of Baal (the innermost, ring-system moon).
- Khonsu, a small dead moon.
- Neper, the system's most habitable body, with a breathable nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere with traces of argon and helium.
- Iah, another dead moon further out.
Sekhmet is orbited by:
- Bastet, a small dry moon.
- Maahes, a thicker moon with a toxic CO2-methane-hydrogen-argon atmosphere.
- Thoth, a mid-sized moon further out.
- Seth, an icy ocean moon.
Anubis is orbited by Kebechet, a small unlandable moon.
Motherships
The mod's central new feature is the Mothership: a player-constructable spacecraft that occupies its own dimension and can be flown between any of the discovered Galacticraft celestial bodies. A Mothership is built up from a structural shell whose blocks are scored by mass (a Block Scale tile shows the load of the block above it), then driven by a Mothership Navigation Console connected to one or more directional engine arrays. Each engine consists of a row of Rocket Engine Base or Ion Thruster Base booster blocks ending in a single Rocket Engine Jet or Ion Thruster Jet; the navigation console computes travel time and fuel use from the array's thrust against the ship's combined mass. A Mothership Configuration Terminal adds a name, a mothership map icon and configurable allow/deny lists for landing and block-use permissions, with the latter governing the navigation console, engines and configuration terminal itself.
Once airborne, motherships behave like custom space stations, share Galacticraft's space-station teleport handler, and can launch standard Galacticraft rockets and the mod's own Shuttle from their decks.
Shuttles
A Shuttle Rocket is a small one-passenger spacecraft built from the Shuttle Schematic on a Nasa Workbench using Lightweight Plates, a fuel tank, nose cone and shuttle legs. The matching Shuttle Dock tile is placed in the wall of a mothership or space station and provides a tile-based attachment point so a shuttle can dock without manual landing. Engines are managed through Galacticraft's existing rocket fuel infrastructure.
Survival gear and tools
Amun-Ra worlds add several environmental hazards that the mod also provides countermeasures for:
- The Thermoregulation Suit (helmet, chest, leggings, boots) protects the wearer from extreme cold or heat. Each piece exposes its current thermal level in its tooltip, and a Portable Thermal Regulator provides the same protection in a single belt-style item.
- The Multi-Sensor is a handheld sensor that displays the local gravity in m/s² and the dimension's thermal level, intended both for survival and for mothership planning.
- The Artificial Gravity Disruptor is a passive baubles-style item that, while enabled, blocks any Artificial Gravity Generator from affecting the holder.
- Blaster, Freeze Ray and the matching Laser Diode / Cryo Diode components add ranged combat options for use against the mod's mobs.
A range of high-capacity batteries, the Lithium Battery, Quantum Battery, Advanced Battery and Nuclear Battery, provides progression beyond Galacticraft's standard cells.
Machines and blocks
The mod ships several non-mothership tile entities:
- The Atomic Battery is an isotope generator that produces RF passively, with output boosted in vacuum or low-temperature environments.
- Hydroponics lets crops grow on otherwise unsuitable dimensions in exchange for energy and water.
- The Artificial Gravity Generator creates an upward or downward gravity force in a configurable cuboid; energy use scales with the cuboid's volume and the magnitude of the force.
- The Block Scale reports the mass of the block above it for mothership construction.
- The Aluminum Chest and Steel Chest are alternate storage options; the aluminum variant matches the wooden chest's capacity and supports double chests, while the steel chest doubles the capacity but cannot be combined.
The mod also adds large block families for worldgen and decoration, including Basalt, Basalt Brick, Smooth Basalt, Olivine Basalt, red sandstone, Obsidian Brick and aluminum-clad variants, each with matching slabs and stairs, plus a Block of Uranium storage block.
Worldgen and ores
The new worlds add a tiered set of ore variants. Stone-equivalent rocks (Basalt, hard clay, Obsidian, asteroid debris, ancient Urbolite) each carry their own metadata-driven multi-ore block that can drop coal, iron, gold, copper, tin, aluminum, lapis lazuli, ruby, diamond, emerald, lead, uranium, lithium-bearing Spodumene, cryo-bearing Chionite, titanium-bearing Ilmenite, silicon, steel and even fossilised remains depending on the host rock and dimension. The Mehen asteroid belt and the icy moons add their own asteroid- and ice-themed deposits.
The mod's distinctive crafting components include Compressed Gold and Gold Foil for advanced electronics, Lithium Mesh and Uranium-Lithium Mesh for batteries, Dark Matter and Dark Matter Shards for Anubis-tier recipes, Nanite Cluster and Nanite Control Module for Mothership wiring, and Mummy Dust dropped by the Osiris boss.
Mobs
- Porcodon is a peaceful pig-like alien whose meat ("smells like gasoline") is edible and serves as a fuel.
- Alien Villager and Robot Villager inhabit the friendly worlds and trade Amun-Ra-specific items.
- Sentry Robot is the hostile counterpart of the robot villager and patrols certain dungeons.
- Alien Bug is a small hostile mob found on the harsher worlds.
- Mummy Boss is the boss of an Osiris dungeon and drops the materials needed for late-game shuttle and mothership recipes.
Compatibility
Amun-Ra hard-depends on Galacticraft Core and Galacticraft Mars, and includes opt-in compatibility with several other mods through its InteroperabilityHelper (for example, replacing some of its alloy ingots with cross-mod equivalents when those mods are present). It exposes server commands for moving and inspecting motherships, force-arriving them at a destination, and teleporting players via shuttles.
