Tin Ore is an ore added by the Forestry mod. It is most notably used to produce Tin Ingots, which are an ingredient in the alloying recipe for Bronze Ingots.
Tin Ore generates between layers 16 and 92 in vanilla Overworld biomes. Veins are up to six blocks in size and the world generator attempts to place 18 of them per chunk. Mining requires at least a Stone Pickaxe and the ore drops itself, allowing it to be processed further by machines such as Macerators or Pulverizers. Smelting one Tin Ore in a Furnace yields one Tin Ingot and 0.5 experience.
Generation of Tin Ore can be disabled in the Forestry config file by setting world.generate.ore.tin to false.
