The Industrial Workbench is a replacement for the standard Crafting Table in IndustrialCraft².

Recipe

GUI

1 - Fast craft with Forge Hammer and Cutter. Here, you can craft plates from ingots, item casings from plates, and wires from plates. You can also put these tools back in your inventory.
2 - 3x3 crafting grid. Here you can place a recipe using items, just like at a regular workbench. However, the items do not drop after the GUI closes.
3 - "Clear" button. If you click on it, all items from the crafting grid will be moved to the workbench's internal inventory.
4 - Output slot with result of craft.
5 - List of machines located near the workbench. Only IC2 machines are displayed here; regular Chests and Hoppers are not shown, although the Personal Safe is displayed. Clicking on these machines opens them from the GUI. This works even if you don’t have normal access to the machine. Pressing Esc returns you to the workbench GUI.
6 - 18 slots of the workbench's internal inventory. The items in it are also retained after the GUI is closed. Also, when items in the crafting grid run out, those items will be moved into the crafting grid—provided, of course, that they are of the same type.

Uses

The workbench does not require any form of power to function.

In the absence of any other surrounding blocks to connect to, the workbench serves as a vanilla crafting table with two enhancements:

Resources placed in the crafting grid will remain there even when the GUI is closed.
Resources shift-clicked into the crafting grid will be automatically balanced among all available positions.
