The Quantum Generator is a block added by Advanced Solar Panels. It has no crafting recipe and can only be obtained using cheats (/give, cheat mode in NEI, creative mode, and so forth). Its intended use is in adventure maps or other places where the designer of the map desires to give the player a specific quantity of permanent energy supply, but it can also be used as a blatantly cheating method of energy generation. It is capable of generating infinite free energy, the packet size and quantity of which can be set via usage of its menu to generate any conceivable variation of EU (for example, 16,666,666 EU/t for a Matter Fabricator to produce one UU-Matter per tick with enough scrap in packets of 512 EU such that it can flow down Glass Fibre Cable) for an infinite amount of time.
The Quantum Generator will generate energy constantly, except if Redstone current is applied. In this case, the Generator will turn off. Also, if the Shift key is held while clicking on buttons on the Generator's GUI to adjust energy values, the changes will increase by a factor of 10. For example, if Shift is held and the button to add 100 to the energy output per tick is pressed, the energy output per tick will increase by 1,000.
Energy can only be generated in the format of EU, as the Quantum Generator will not generate MJ. However, generated EU can be converted to MJ through use of an Electrical Engine or through the use of systems comprised of blocks in the Power Converters mod.
- Setting the max EU/t to 32768 or greater will cause your game to crash.
- Connecting a BuildCraft Pipe to the Generator can also cause the game to crash.
- Any machines that have a color config for outputs on its sides, if placed to export the items into a quantum gen placed next to it will destroy the item.
- Shifting an item, like a Jetpack, into the Quantum Generator will cause the game to crash.
