Source Mod mod

A Hound is a big upgrade to Wolves added by the MineFantasy mod, which is available in the Magic Farm Modpack, which is available in the FTB Launcher for Minecraft 1.5.2.

They are designed to be a tameable companion to the player, but can be found as wild strays or packs in Forests, Jungles, and Plains Biomes. They can also be spawned by the player with a Hound Egg from the Creative inventory.

Hounds come in a variety of breeds and colors including, but not limited to: White, Black, Gray, Brown, or Splotched. The creator of the mod has indicated that a future update may include Holy and Blood, but they are not currently available.

Hounds can be tamed with a bone when not in a pack. Packs love bones and meat, but none of the members can be tamed or make Baby Hounds. The larger Alpha Leader of a pack may be any of the colors, is 1-2 pixels taller with a thicker waist, and will be followed around by at least four smaller members.

Babies of tamed Hounds will behave anxiously if the player is visible, but unable to be followed. Tamed Hounds can make babies with tamed Wolves, although the offspring will be a Baby Wolf with no attributes inherited from the Hound parent.

Tamed Hound Interface[edit]

After taming, players can right click on the Hound to bring up an interface connected to the inventory. The player can then name the Hound, monitor statistics, give commands, and add equipment.

Naming[edit]

To name the Hound, the player can click on the speech bubble near the upper left corner of the interface to enter the text. Names will display while using the interface and when hovering the mouse cursor over the Hound. The name can be changed later.

Commands[edit]

A book icon near the upper right corner indicates the command menu, from which the player can select:

  • Idle: Will sit, wander, eat, and dig at its leisure.
  • Stay: Will sit, but not wander, and eat food that is in front of it.
  • Follow: Will follow the player.
  • Guard: Wanders the area and attacks mobs.
  • Hunt: Will wander a large area and attack mobs that are not tameable, especially those that provide meat, such as Cows, Pigs, Sheep, Chickens, Rosesters, and Mooshrooms.

Statistics[edit]

The player can monitor or view the status of:

Item Equipment[edit]
